Just when you thought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was going to be the seventh and final book in J.K. Rowling's billion-dollar series, the author has suggested that she might indeed write an eighth book which will serve as a sort of Harry Potter encyclopedia. So no, we won't get another Potter adventure, but this might be a chance to flesh out under-used characters, as well as let fans fully immerse themselves in the Potter world. Says Rowling, "I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopedia of the world so that I could use all the extra material that's not in the books."
Rowling's agent, Christopher Little, confirmed the possibility admitting that the author has "retained all the rights in the Harry Potter series." That includes any and all companion books "which she may indeed write herself." Apparently, Rowling's notes are extremely detailed; sort of like the notes JRR Tolkien jotted down for his Lord of the Rings series. Thus, it would be fairly easy for her to dive into a decade worth of notes and churn out an encyclopedia-type book. According to Telegraph UK, such a book would "cover historical figures, such as the founders of Hogwarts school, along with elaborate genealogies of the main characters." Of course, with something like this, there's no way we can look forward to another big-screen installment. I can see it now: Kids everywhere would attempt to sit through Harry Potter and the Magical Encyclopedia, however, half-way through, they would all cry out: "Ugh, it wants us to learn!" That said, I imagine it might be fun to get the actors to appear on some sort of companion DVD. What do you Potter fanatics think of this? Would you enjoy reading a Potter encyclopedia, or would you rather read another full-on Potter adventure? Then again, do I even need to ask that question?

Is there an EIGHTH Harry Potter book coming our way?

jk-rowling.pngI about popped a gasket when I read this story; although it could be a wait of TEN YEARS (I know, I know, keep breathing), it would be well worth the wait, donʼt you think?
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has strongly hinted for the first time that she could write an eighth book in the series.
Rowling, 42, admits she has ʽweak momentsʼ when she feels she will pen another novel about the boy wizard.
Keep reading for more about a possible eighth Harry Potter book!
However, if an eighth novel were to be written, Rowling concedes it is unlikely that Harry would be the central character.
She finished the seventh book in the series – Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – last January.
At the time she thought she was ending a 17-year association with the boy wizard.
But in an interview with Time magazine, which put Rowling at No 3 in its Person Of The Year list, she said: “There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when Iʼve said ʽYeah, all rightʼ to the eighth novel. “If – and itʼs a big if – I ever write an eighth book, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel Iʼve already told his story.
“But these are big ifs. Letʼs give it ten years.”
In the meantime, Rowling is working on two writing projects – an adult novel and a “political fairy tale” – and is involved in charity work.
So! What do you think: good idea, bad idea? What do you think her story would be about if Harry was not the central character? I would love to see how Ron and Hermione turned out, or perhaps a novel about the original Order of the Phoenix and all their adventures….maybe a History of Hogwarts….the possibilities are endless, really!
Το θετικο ειναι "Rowling concedes it is unlikely that Harry would be the central character"
Το κακο ειναι "an adult novel and a “political fairy tale” – and is involved in charity work."
